What affects the cost
- Size. Bigger driveways cost more in total, though often less per foot.
- Thickness. HomeGuide lists $6 to $15 per square foot for a standard 4-inch slab and $8 to $20 for 6 inches, which is recommended for heavy vehicles.
- Tear-out and site prep. Breaking up an old driveway, grading and adding a gravel base add cost.
- Finish. Stamping, color and borders add labor.
- Permit. HomeGuide says most residential driveways need a permit, typically $50 to $200.
- Season. Concrete needs the right temperatures to cure. HomeGuide notes spring and fall often balance weather and pricing.
