Doing Work Texts
Doing Work Texts is the text messaging program run by Doing Work LLC. Field-service shops use it to text their own customers about visits. Doing Work uses it to send account texts to shop owners who ask for them.
Two kinds of texts
Visit texts go from a shop to its own customers. They are appointment reminders, On My Way texts when the tech heads out, and one follow-up after a finished visit that thanks the customer and links to the shop’s review page. The shop sends them using Doing Work, from the shop’s own verified toll-free number, and every one starts with the shop’s name.
Account texts go from Doing Work to shop owners who opted in at signup. They are test previews you ask for, so you can see a reminder on your own phone. They come from Doing Work’s own toll-free number and start with “Doing Work:”.
Visit texts turn on after a shop’s texting number is approved, which can take from a few days to a few weeks. Account texts start once Doing Work’s own number is approved.
Neither kind of text is marketing. Nobody gets texts from a bought or shared list.
How customers opt in to visit texts
The shop collects each customer’s consent when it adds their mobile number. There are two ways, and both are optional. A customer can book a visit without agreeing to texts.
On the shop’s booking form
Below the phone field is a separate box. It starts unchecked, and the customer has to tick it. Here is the wording, using Batch Two Heating as the example shop:
On the phone or in person
When a customer books by phone, or the office adds them by hand, the office asks first:
“Can we text this number about your visit, like a reminder and a note when the tech is on the way? Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP anytime.”
The office ticks “The customer agreed to get visit texts at this number” only if the customer says yes. Doing Work saves who recorded it and when. Doing Work will not send a visit text to a customer with no consent on record.
After consent is recorded, the customer gets one confirmation text:
- Opt-in confirmationBatch Two Heating: You’re set to get texts about your visits (reminders, on-the-way, follow-up). Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out.
How owners opt in to Doing Work account texts
The Doing Work signup form asks for a mobile phone. Below it is an optional box that starts unchecked:
You can create your shop without ticking it. If you leave it blank, Doing Work doesn’t text that number.
- Opt-in confirmationDoing Work: You’ll get account texts about your shop. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out.

How often, and what it costs
Message frequency varies. Visit texts are usually 1 to 4 per visit. Account texts depend on how often you ask for a test preview. Message and data rates may apply.
Stop texts or get help
Reply STOP to any text to opt out. Your carrier confirms it, and that number won’t text you again unless you reply START or UNSTOP. Replying STOP to a shop’s number stops texts from that shop only. Reply HELP to any text for help. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
You can also opt out by telling the shop in any reasonable way, such as calling the shop or telling the tech.
Privacy and terms
Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The Privacy Policy covers how numbers and consent records are handled, and the Terms set out the program rules, including what shops agree to before they can text.
