For AI agents and the people who build them

Doing Work, as MCP tools.

Doing Work is field service software for home service shops ($49 a month, unlimited users) and a free way for homeowners to get quotes from local shops. Both sides are open to AI assistants through two remote MCP servers.

Remote HTTP. OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration and PKCE. No API keys.

Two servers

Home Service Quotes

For assistants helping a homeowner describe a job and get quotes from the relevant shops nearby. Free for homeowners. The homeowner signs in with a code sent to their email.

https://app.doingwork.work/mcp/home
  • quote_request_update Create or update the homeowner’s job: what, where, when.
  • quote_request_add_photo Attach a photo of the job.
  • quote_request_confirm_summary Show the job summary and get the homeowner’s OK (returns a confirm token).
  • quote_request_find_shops Find local shops ranked on license, reviews, service area and fit. Paying Doing Work is never a ranking input.
  • quote_request_approve_and_send Preview the message to shops, then send only after the homeowner confirms.
  • quote_request_status See which shops replied and what they quoted.
  • quote_request_list List the homeowner’s quote requests.
  • quote_request_pick_shop Pick a shop. Only that shop gets the homeowner’s contact details.

Scopes: quotes, quotes:read. Nothing goes to a shop until the homeowner confirms.

Shop Office

For assistants working for a shop owner on Doing Work: look up customers and today’s jobs, and draft requests, quotes and invoices.

https://app.doingwork.work/mcp/shop
  • search Find a customer, lead or job by name. Read only.
  • list_jobs_today Today’s jobs on the schedule. Read only.
  • create_request Log a new job at the Request stage. Contacts no one.
  • create_quote Draft a quote. Does not send it.
  • create_invoice Draft an invoice from a job’s quote lines. Does not send or charge.
  • start_subscription Open Stripe checkout for $49/mo, only after the owner says yes.

Scopes: shop, shop:read. Drafts only. The owner sends and charges from the app.
