Google Calendar with your agent

Get visits onto Google Calendar, from a worker's own feed link or through your agent.

What Doing Work provides

  • calendar.createFeed: a private calendar feed link (.ics) of one worker's visits. Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook subscribes to it. The link is shown once, and a new one turns the old one off.
  • calendar.listFeeds and calendar.revokeFeed: see each feed and turn one off. A turned-off link stops showing visits.
  • schedule.events: visits between two dates as calendar events, each with a steady id, so your agent updates the same event when a visit moves.
  • Webhooks for visit.scheduled, visit.updated, visit.assigned and visit.cancelled.

What your agent does

For each worker, makes a feed link and helps them add it to their calendar app. For a shared calendar, copies visits with its own calendar connection using schedule.events, and updates or removes events when a visit moves or is cancelled.

Paste this into your agent

"Get my workers' visits onto their calendars. Read https://doingwork.work/docs/agent-guides/google-calendar/ first. Make a calendar feed link for each worker with calendar.createFeed and send each worker their own link with steps to subscribe in Google Calendar. If I want a shared calendar too, copy the next two weeks with schedule.events using your calendar connection and keep it current from the visit webhooks."

Limits

  • One way only. Changes made in Google Calendar don't move visits in Doing Work.
  • Calendar apps check a feed on their own schedule, so a change can take hours to show.
  • Treat a feed link like a password. Anyone with it can see that worker's visits.
