[API reference](https://doingwork.work/docs/reference/) | Housecall Pro's public API is on the MAX plan only ([Housecall Pro help](https://help.housecallpro.com/en/articles/8505035-api-overview)). We found no official MCP server. On Doing Work the API and MCP are open to every shop. | | Phone booking | On. Calls come in on the shop's own Twilio number and are answered by the shop's own voice agent (ElevenLabs or Grok), which books callers into the shop's live availability once the owner turns on live booking. Texts to customers go by email until the shop's 10DLC texting registration is approved. See [Phone setup](https://doingwork.work/docs/phone-setup/). | Housecall Pro sells AI answering separately and doesn't publish the price. | | Card processing | Stripe, 2.9% + 30¢ for a domestic card ([stripe.com/pricing](https://stripe.com/pricing)). | See their pricing page. | ## Fee example A crew of 5 taking $40,000 a month: Doing Work's fee is $137.50. Housecall Pro Essentials is $149 a month billed annually. The bigger number is processing. Housecall Pro lists cards from 2.59%. Doing Work uses Stripe at 2.9% + 30¢. On $40,000 of cards the gap is roughly $124 a month plus 30¢ a payment, which can outweigh the plan price difference. Run it on your own card and bank mix. Doing Work fee at other volumes: $5,000 a month costs $50.00; $20,000 a month costs $87.50; $40,000 a month costs $137.50; $120,000 a month costs $169.50. ## Where Housecall Pro wins - A lower card rate: from 2.59%, against Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ on Doing Work. For a card-heavy shop this can be the biggest line. - Customer financing offers built in. Doing Work has none; a financed job is recorded as paid outside. - Years of public reviews and a polished app for crews who don't use an agent. ## Switching What imports and what doesn't: [Switching from Housecall Pro](https://doingwork.work/docs/switching/housecall-pro/). You can keep Housecall Pro running while you try a few real jobs.
